Summer is coming and with that, Visit Roane is launching a new tourism campaign that is sure to make a splash! Our new campaign, “Soak In Roane” is meant to highlight all of the ways you can soak in the sights, sounds, food, festivals, culture and creativity of Roane.
Soak in the sounds of Roane County at any of our live music venues like Bradbury Community Club or on special event stages throughout the year. Almost any night of the week, you can find a bluegrass jam, karaoke or a singer songwriter performing with or without a stage.
Immerse yourself in the culture of Roane at events like our Tennessee Medieval Faire coming up on select weekends in May. With stage shows, reenactments, delicious food and lots of fun, you’ll want to come back for more!
Steep in the history of the Manhattan Project by boarding the DOE Public Bus Tour that takes you behind the fence through Roane County sites that were part of one of America’s secret cities used for the building of the atomic bomb.
Dive into fun with friends and family on Watts Bar Lake! Rent a paddleboard or kayak. Tube all day behind a pontoon boat or set sail for wide-open spaces. Anchor in a quiet cove or hang in a local lakeside marina. Fish a tournament, throw out a line from a pier, or hire a guide to catch the big one!
Jump into the joy of lakeside living by hitching up the RV at one of our campgrounds. Riley Creek Campground on Hwy 58 in Kingston offers RV and tent sites, two swimming areas, bath houses, and boat launch. Caney Creek Resort is an award-winning waterfront resort located on Hwy 70 in Harriman and includes two swimming pools, a covered pavilion, playground, trails, and canoe and paddleboards. Soaring Eagle Campground is at Exit 360 off of I40 and offers RV and primitive sites located on the Clinch River.
To celebrate our new campaign kick-off, we’re holding a couple of social media contests with great prizes and weekly opportunities to win! Each week, we will post a picture on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter of something happening in Roane with the challenge, “caption this.” Winners will be notified via a @reply and asked to send their contact information to [email protected]. Prizes include Soak in Roane SWAG, 4 Tennessee Medieval Faire tickets, Power T wall art, Sugarlands moonshine pack, Watts Bar Lake SWAG, and more!
In addition, show us how you Soak in Roane by snapping a photos at different attractions and cities in Roane County. Post the 3–5 photos as a collage on Instagram or Facebook with the hashtag #SoakinRoane and a caption. These photos should show something unique about the city or experience. We’ll choose a winner each week to go into the grand prize drawing.
The Grand Prize includes a VIP weekend in Roane for two, which includes a kayak donated by Uncle Lem’s Mountain Outfitters and a fall or spring weekend with rv at Caney Creek RV Resort (some restrictions apply – no holidays and reservations required.)
We can’t wait to share more, and we’re so excited to see how you soak in Roane!
